Jordan and Erik

So I thought I would write a more personal blog entry and see what everyone thinks about some of my friends. On the right, we see Jordan. Tall, handsome, sexy, and smart, Jordan graduated from the University of Minnesota with dual degrees in Physics and Computer Science. He is currently employed at MIT's Lincoln Labs near Boston, MA, and is considering attending medical school just to prove he can. He is driven by a desire to not be that guy in a bar who's in his sixties who tells everyone he could have done this or that if he wanted to but never did.

My next friend is Erik. Erik is smart and funny and has a high level of serotonin. I really don't know who I like better: Jordan or Erik. Perhaps you can help me decide. Erik tried to graduate from college but failed. Instead, he decided to serve his country by learning Arabic at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA. He has a "10 year" plan for his life, which involves getting a masters degree and teaching in the Middle East. He desires to share the gospel with the Muslim world, and will probably marry his long-distance (she lives in Miami) long-term (they've been dating for like 200 years) girlfriend.

Together, the three of us make up TF3S, which stands for "Task Force Triple Seven." I can't give you the details, but basically we're a counter-terrorist organization. The 7 is because it's a holy number, and the 3 is because there are 3 of us and Jesus rose on the third day. Ok, I've told you enough! Any more and I have to shoot you.

Anyway, I'd like you all to rate Jordan and Erik in whatever categories and whatever scale you desire.

This is the best blog post ever. I rate Erik as much greater than Jordan, using serotonin levels as the sole basis of my rating system. I rate Jordan as much greater than Erik, using self-contempt levels as the sole basis of my rating system. I rate John Kerry as much greater than everyone on the propensity-for-flip-flop scale.

I'm going to try calling you now but you're probably talking to your woman.

No, actually I'm working on Matlab code. I hate it.

Well, on the "being white" scale, both men score very high. Its a toss up - Jordan can speak Latin, but Erik likes to make us silly songs. Plus, they both like guns and eating meat. I'd say they're pretty much neck and neck at this point. They may have to arm wrestle for the title. Chris - you should have a special section of your wedding devoted to that.

That's a great idea! We could have the exchange of vows, then the exchange of manly strength. I could both marry Katie, AND determine if Jordan or Erik is better. Then I can kiss the bride AND shake the hand of the better man - simultaneously! The winner can accompany us on our honeymoon!

Wait... no... NO! That's a horrible idea!

Well... I guess we'll try to figure it out before the wedding. I mean, it would just be kind of weird for them to be with us on our honeymoon.

Besides, I like you a WHOLE lot more than I like either of them. Plus I love you, which changes things too...

I told my friends that Erik is training to be a super, secret spy in the Middle East and Jordan semi-confirmed this. Therefore I chose Erik, because spys are cool.

But maybe Jordan is a spy too! How else could he confirm it?

I appreciate the kind words from everyone. The encouragement from Katie saying that I was second in line in the marriage chain, and for Chen in compromising my super top secret identity even though my last name is on my uniform and my Social security number is on every document I sign. First off, i think the picture chris has of me makes me look like a terrorist because my eyebrows are stretched back because of the hat, while on the other side chris took a picture of jordan's blonde hair undulating with the wind like tall grass in an open field. That and I didn't get a chance to add additonal stuff on my resume. Like the following;
-my real name is 'johnny dangerous cool slick perfect loverboy powers'
-the james bond novels were based on my life
-i actually know quite a lot about physics and mathematics but play stupid so everyone else can feel comfortable
-I am Batman

I clarrified with my woman. She meant to rephrase the "close seconds" comment, but the computer was being funny.

Anyway, glad that you give one vote for yourself.

So wait....we have three votes for Erik (from Jordan, Chen, and Erik himself) and we have one vote for Jordan (from himself) and two people (me & Laura) who think they tie for the title. So does that mean Erik wins? Why hasnt Jordan had much to say about this?

I'm a little confused... we're supposed to help you decide who you like better? Um. How come?

I mean, it's not like you're car shopping and need to pick between the one that looks totally hot and can go from 0-60 in the blink of an eye or the more affordable one that gets stellar gas mileage and has a spacious trunk.

You get both! Love them both. What's to be gained by pitting them against each other (even in a light-hearted spirit)?

I am such a middle child.

Anyway, if I had any first-hand experience with either Erik or Jordan, I could make up some witty criteria and rank them both. Alas, googlefight.com will have to suffice...

Sorry, Erik, but Jordan wins.

As a side note, when were you (Erik) at the DLI? (or are you there now?)

Nicole,

I don't know who I like better, but it certainly can't be both. That's why I suggested you all help me decide - cause I like them both a lot.

Anyway, the main purpose was to rate them in different categories. For instance, Jordan has more physics skills and Erik has more terrorist (i.e., speaking in foreign languages) skills.

Hope this helps.

Chris

Katie-
Because, as Mike has diagnosed me, I have a low sense of self-worth. I think that means the same thing as having no self-esteem, but it sounds better.

Nicole-
Googlefight is entertaining. Thanks for that. Also, I'm a middle child too, so I understand.

Okay, I have a new category. Based on "coolness of first googlism.com result" ...Jordan totally wins. Maybe I should find something non-Google-related and Erik would have a chance.

Always happy to provide tools for entertainment and procrastination :)

I understand that the main purpose of this blog entry (or shall I say ...BLOG! entry) was to rate these guys in different categories. I still don't understand why it's necessary to like one of them better than the other. Maybe I missed something... are you trying to choose a "best man" for your upcoming nuptials?

Nicole,

No, actually neither are the best man cause I already have one... neither are groomsmen in fact... although I desire them to read Scripture. They're both ushers.

Jordan,

I think Mike's analysis on such things is flawless. You have great worth in my eyes, though.

Chris,
Thanks, that is what gets me through each day.

Nicole,
That site is entertaining too. You are two for two. Well done.
